The Digital Archive Project is a collaboration between HHSAA and the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center, a statewide digitization and digital publishing program that works with cultural heritage organizations of all sizes across North Carolina to digitize and publish historic materials online.
HHSAA maintains an archive of HHS historical documents dating back to the founding of the school over a century ago. Those documents include yearbooks, school newspapers, scrapbooks, plaques and awards, photographs, sports jerseys, film of sporting events, and much more.
In 2022 the digitization of the archives began with the scanning of the yearbook, The Laureate, for the years 1948 to 1972. That was followed by editions of the school newspaper, The Red and White, from 1938 to 1989. The project continues with the scanning of all yearbooks, newspapers, scrapbooks and other historical documents. You can see the growing collection of digitized material on the HHSAA page of DigitalNC.
If you have historical documents relating to Hendersonville High School that you would like to donate to the HHSAA Archives, please contact us.
